Major Employers:

The State of Vermont is the largest employer in the State.  However, despite its size, Vermont is also home to many major employers, including several well known brand name employers.  Here are some of the larger employers in the State

Transportation:

The State of Vermont has several airports but only one international airport, Burlington Internation Airport.  The airlines that fly in and out of BIA areContinental, Delta, JetBlue, United Airlines and USAirways.

The State of Vermont also has rail service through Amtrak. While the current Amtrak service leaves something to be desired, the State is working on upgrading its current rail system. 

There is also bus service throughout the State.

Medical:

There are several local hospitals throughout Vermont, but Vermont also has a premier health complex in Burlington, Fletcher Allen Health Care.  Apart from the State of Vermont, Fletcher Allen is the largest employer in the State.

Colleges and Universities:

For a State of just over 625,000 residents, Vermont has a tremendous number of higher educational institutions.  Here is a list of some of those:
